The book "Introduction to Christianity," now offered to the Russian-speaking reader, was
first published almost 40 years ago, in 1968. It was based on lectures given in the summer of 1967 at the University of Tübingen in Germany by Priest Joseph Ratzinger, who was later destined to become
Pope Benedict XVI.
"Introduction to Christianity" is an attempt to understand the role of faith in
Christ in the modern world. This book has much to say to today's reader,
a person of the age of the Internet, mobile communications, and universal globalization, because
it is precisely this technological progress and various social transformations,
while increasing the comfort of material life, that have no positive
spiritual influence on people.
. The main message of this book is that we must present to people
the Truth in all its fullness and purity, and it will set people free. This is precisely
why it is necessary to constantly return to the roots, to the tradition vital to the
Church, to Tradition, which ultimately goes back to God,
became man. We must always remember that at the center of our preaching
must be the Incarnate Word of God – the Lord Jesus Christ. It is Him that we
must bring to people first and foremost. If this is so, then our words will be heard by
many, many, many, just as the whole world heard the apostles, simple fishermen from
Galilee.
