The Red Army and Stalin's collectivization. 1928-1933
19.99 €
This book, the first in Russian historiography, examines the extent of the Red Army's involvement and participation in Stalin's policy of total collectivization and the elimination of the kulaks as a class at the turn of the 1920s and 1930s. The study draws on extensive archival material, including that published in the last decade. Extensive use of archival documents has allowed for the uncovering of previously unknown historical facts and the tracing of key stages in the development and implementation of state agrarian policy, as it relates to the involvement of military structures. Statistical data from the 1926 military census are of great scholarly interest. New data on the organization, size, and combat use of OGPU troops are presented. The book is intended for specialists in military and agricultural history, students studying source studies, archaeography, and the principles of working with historical documents, as well as a general readership.
