The plot of the Ukrainian folk tale "The Mitten" is similar to that of the Russian folk tale "The Teremok": an old man was going into the forest to gather firewood; he walked and walked until he lost his mitten. A mouse ran by, saw the mitten, and decided to make it her home. Then a frog hopped in, followed by a hare, followed by a fox, followed by a wolf, a boar, and a bear. As always in fairy tales, there was enough room for everyone! The book is illustrated by the renowned artist Evgeny Rachev. It features drawings from the first and most famous version—the one that is now preserved, drawing by drawing, in art museums around the world. One drawing is being published for the first time.
