The German Empire of the early twentieth century was considered a model of militarism and aggressiveness in foreign policy. Was this really the case? Who made the foreign policy of imperial Germany and how? What were the goals of this policy? To what extent was it responsible for the "German catastrophe" of the twentieth century and the two world wars? Is it possible to draw a straight line "From Bismarck to Hitler"? This work is devoted to the search for an answer to these questions. The book examines the history of diplomacy of the German Empire in 1871-1918. Special attention is paid to the mechanisms of formation of the country's foreign policy.
