A girl Sajo and her brother Shepien are children from an Indian tribe. One day their father brings them two little beavers who have lost their family. The children become attached to these cute animals with all their souls. But one day they have to part with one beaver; the baby faces a hard life in captivity. To save their favorite pet, the children embark on a long and dangerous journey, at the risk of their lives overcoming many obstacles. Fortunately, they meet many good people on their way, who help them to return the little friend. The author of this fascinating and touching story is an Englishman. He spent most of his life in Canada, in an Indian tribe. There he took the Indian name Grey Owl and it was under this name that he became known to the whole world as the author of this book and as an ardent defender of the pristine nature of North America. The writer believed that all people should adopt the careful, poetic attitude of the Canadian Indians to the vast forests and our lesser brothers. And these are the motifs that permeate this famous story.
