F.M. Dostoevsky's novel "Crime and Punishment" (1866) is one of the most significant works in the history of world literature. It contains several intersecting layers: historical, philosophical, psychological, dramatic, detective, religious. In addition, it is also a novel "polyphonic" - a genre first created by Dostoevsky.
The author does not denounce his heroes - Raskolnikov, Sonechka and others; together with them he makes a painful journey from thought to crime and searches for the road to repentance, expressing his view on the nature of man and his purpose.
This edition is illustrated with works by Mikhail Shemyakin, which help to better penetrate the metaphysical meaning of the novel and are autobiographical in nature, testifying to the artist's inner experiences of self-discovery.
