Vladimir Alekseevich Gilyarovsky (1855-1935) was a Russian writer, journalist, legend of Moscow and its chronicler, author of the famous book Moscow and Muscovites (1926). In his book Moscow Newspaper (published 1960), he recalls his work in the periodical press, where he published essays and reports on current events. Gilyarovsky became known as the "king of reporting", becoming one of the best chroniclers of his time. His articles and feuilletons often increased the circulation of the newspapers he worked for; today, we learn about life in pre-revolutionary Russia from these publications. "For almost half a century, I proudly bore the title of reporter - a title that was not held in high esteem in our country for various reasons... I loved this work infinitely and devoted myself to it completely, often not without risk. And never was a single message of mine refuted. “Everything was strict, proven, pure truth” (V.A. Gilyarovsky).
