Once upon a time there lived a girl, and she had a cockerel. The girl was a good housewife, but one day she swapped the cockerel for a hen. The girl loved the hen too, fed and stroked it – until she saw a duck. She swapped the duck for a puppy too. But the puppy didn’t want to be friends with the girl, who herself didn’t know how to be friends. And he ran away.

The fairy tale by Valentina Oseeva with illustrations by Maria Rudachenko tells children about the importance of valuing friends.
