Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky is a world-famous marinist, a representative of the "Golden Age" of Russian culture, one of the few artists of Russia who has achieved world fame. The author of about six thousand works, a participant in more than a hundred and twenty exhibitions, holder of many Russian and foreign orders, he found time for extensive public, educational, charitable activities. Traveling in Western Europe, trips to Turkey and the Caucasus were important milestones in his creative path, but still he drew inspiration primarily in his native Feodosia. Creative plans, inspiration, mental rest and aspiration for new achievements gave him the Black Sea, to which he dedicated his talent. The two elements - sea and painting - were perceived by him as inseparable, as a constant source of creativity, accompanied his life path, his disappointments and successes, storms and doldrums, accompanying the aspiration of a true artist - to serve Art and the Fatherland.
